27th May – Lough Cutra Castle (Galway, Ireland)
Lough Cutra Castle Half Marathon and 10K in Galway, Ireland are the first in our series of running races and set the scene for a stunning, competitive and fun series. Runners will take on loops of the spectator friendly run route, past Lough Cutra Lake, the largest privately owned lake in Europe. Taking in formal gardens of the estate, with iconic views of the castle, villages with locals cheering all the way, the races end with a finishing line banquet outside Lough Cutra Castle. The races also coincide with the UK Bank Holiday making it an ideal break away for runners.
24th June – Cholmondeley Castle (Cheshire)
Just a week after the Summer Solstice, the second leg of the 2018 Castle Run Series will take place at Cholmondeley Castle during the long, bucolic days of June. Starting next to the castle’s cricket pitch, competitors will take on loops of the spectator friendly run course, taking in the lake, Cholmondeley Castle, the stunning Cheshire countryside and quaint villages with locals cheering you on. As the runners cross the finish line with the castle as the backdrop, they will be welcomed with a medal and the now-famous finishing line banquet.
8th July Festival of Endurance Marathon and Half Marathon, Hever Castle (Kent)
After the huge success of the inaugural event in the 2017 Series, the Marathon and Half Marathon return to the atmospheric Festival of Endurance at Hever Castle. With over 1000 competitors taking on long distance challenges, spectators will support you on two or four loops of the iconic run course depending on your distance of choice, taking in both Hever and Chiddingstone Castles and Kentish, villages steeped in history, the iconic Hever Castle Lake, finishing by the Castle with a medal and finishing line banquet.
22nd July – Castle Howard (Yorkshire)
The Castle Howard Half Marathon and 10K are truly memorable races on the southern border of the North York Moors through the Howardian Hills. The rapturous reception afforded to previous Castle Howard Triathlons has led to this weekend event to be known as the sporting event of the North! The spectacular run courses take runners through the undulating Howardian Hills, through the stunning Castle Howard estate made famous by Brideshead Revisited and boasts a finish that tops everything off in style – right in front of the main doors of the house.
26th August – Chateau de Chantilly (France)
Alongside the Chantilly Triathlon, Castle Run Series brings its unique and iconic runs across the Channel to Chantilly on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Just 40 miles north of Paris, the truly beautiful Chateau de Chantilly plays host to a spectator-friendly run course, with the Louis IV Chateau and gardens as the backdrop. Through woodland, formal gardens, and past the lake, the varied course ends with a spectacular Chateau backdrop, where runners receive their medal and enjoy a finishing line banquet.
23rd September – Hever Castle (Kent)
The Hever Castle Half Marathon and 10K create a stunning finale for the Castle Run Series, taking place alongside the iconic and sought after Hever Castle Triathlon. After 10 years of success Hever Castle Triathlon has established itself as a destination for elite athletes, garnering plaudits and media attention for its iconic venue, spectator support and festival atmosphere. The spectator friendly run course is now open to distance runners, and is set to become and instant classic.
