Welcome to the Richmond Half Marathon
The race starts and finishes at Old Deer park adjacent to the A316 – post code TW9 2SF Make sure you don’t miss this opportunity of running in one of the most scenic Half marathons in London. The majority of the Richmond Half Marathon is run against the backdrop of River Thames.
The race start is 09:00 and is very accessible by car and public transport. There is Old Deer park Car park right opposite the start area. The race has a great vibe and well supported by some local organisations and charities.
This year in celebration of 70 years of the NHS and the contribution it has made to the health of the nation, we are encouraging runners to support Kingston Hospital Charity, the Richmond Half Marathon’s official charity partner, which raises vital extra funds for Kingston Hospital. Further information is provided as part of the event registration process.
All runners will receive a medal for finishing as well as loads of goodies at the finish including water, juices, fruit and a chocolate bar!
We use the latest Chip Timing technology so you will get an accurate finishing time. The results are posted as soon as you cross the finish line! We will have a free baggage drop facility for you to use. This area will be cordoned off but we do advise against storing any valuables as we can’t be held responsible.
Facilities
Toilets will also be provided at the start / finish area. An official race photographer will be in attendance around the course so make sure they catch you when you are looking your very best! A Medical team will also be situated at the start area.
We will also have a pre-race warm up around 10 minutes before the race start to warm up those tight muscles so you will be ready for the run.
All in all we are ready – the question is; are you ready to take on the challenge?

Held under UK:Athletics rules and with the kind permission of The Canal & River Trust, this non-stop race is from Gas Street Basin, Birmingham, along the way-marked Grand Union Canal Towpath to Little Venice, London.
Regarded by many as Britain’s premier Ultra, this is a 145 mile continuous race from Gas Street Basin in the centre of Birmingham, to Little Venice in the heart of London. Run entirely on the waymarked Grand Union Canal towpath, the easy to navigate, and relatively flat route, takes runners through a variety of urban and rural scenery – there should be something for everyone.
This is a race organised by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. It is definitely “old school”; definitely low key, and definitely a long way. There are no entry qualifications (other than that you must be over twenty and willing to give it a good try) so runners of all abilities are welcomed. Entrants should, though, be aware that they must be able to maintain a rate of progress in line with an overall time limit of 45 hours.
GUCR is the first of a three race series “The Canalslam” totalling over 400 miles. Each race can be entered as a one-off, but competitors completing all three receive a special award.
Easy route navigation – detailed maps and a canal to follow.
Plenty of support – snacks and drinks every 10 –15 miles.
Transport for retirees – a lift to the nearest station for anyone having a bad day.
Easy to meet cut-off times – simply in line with the generous overall time limits.
No qualification – previous experience of just a marathon has proven enough.
