This weekend of 21/22 September saw the 7th running of the award winning Equinox24 running festival at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire.

Teams descended on Leicestershire from all over the country and overseas for a sun kissed weekend of camping, music, food and running.
Nearly 3000 runners took to the start line in 2019 with a record number of over 650 solo runners making it the largest solo field at a 24hr race in the UK. This year there have been some incredible female performances in the ultra running world and we were lucky enough to see another at Equinox24 as Julie Finn not only won the female category but the solo category overall with a new female course record of 190km (19 laps)! Second place went to local runner Holly Durham with 160km and third was Anna Seeley with 150km.

The men’s solo event saw some really close racing with the winner Sam Pearch completing his 180km less than 2 minutes in front of second place Ramzi Sidani. Riccardo Giussani rounded off the podium with 170km.

The other category winners were 2 Pork Pies Short of a Picnic in the pairs category with 260km, Long distance Relay-Tionship AKA WPS in the small team category with 330km and BRJ Awesome 8 in the large team category with 330km.

With a kids fun run, movie being shown in the main marquee and crafting sessions put on for the children the event continues to have a great family atmosphere and is a “must do event” on the calendar. There was also the option of running either the day or night 10km (or both for some!) with both events selling out. Be warned though as this often leads to competitors getting hooked and entering into the 24hr event the following year.

2020 will see a brand new event, Solstice24 June 27/28, on a brand new course around the Belvoir Castle estate, check it out at entries are already open and filling quickly.

Equinox24 2020 will be held on 19/20 September and entries will be opening in October and sell out quickly so start to get your teams together to avoid disappointment.
