The city of Mar del Plata, Argentina will host the inaugural edition of the IRONMAN® 70.3® Mar del Plata triathlon with competition set to take place on Sunday, December 4, 2022. The event will coincide with the full-distance IRONMAN® Argentina triathlon taking place on the same day. Registration for the event is now available by visiting

The race will start with a 1.9 km (1.2 miles) swim in the Mar Argentino. Once out of the water, athletes will transition onto the bike for 90 km (56 miles) of cycling on the Interbalnearia route, before capping off their race with a 21.1 km (13.1 miles) run through the streets of Mar del Plata and an electric finish line at the statue of the Sea Wolf, a popular tourism destination.

A city in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, Mar del Plata, is one of Argentina’s top beach resort towns highlighted by 10 miles of sandy beaches. Mar del Plata has also played host to the IRONMAN South American Championship race on three separate occasions.
