What made you get into running?
As many may know I got into running as a way of keeping my recently found weight loss off. It was motivation to keep me going after losing 4 stone and from it lost another 5 stone and not looked back since.
What has been your proudest/best running moment?
In the short period I’ve been running I’ve had a few, completing 3 charity challenges, helping to raise over a million for charities, getting faster. However for me it’s winning my first race back in november last year.
What has been the biggest challenge you have faced?
fighting my own demons and people saying I can’t, thanks to running I finally spoke about my childhood abuse and through running I’ve learnt to embrace my past and use it as tool. I’ve keep getting told I can’t do certain things with running but I constantly prove these people wrong.
Who is your inspiration, and why?
Honestly I don’t have anyone who inspires me as such. If anything I inspire myself, looking back at who I was I inspire myself not to ever be like that. My all time fav runner is steve prefontaine his views on running inspires me daily.
What are your future goals?
To win more races but personally want to get faster at all distances so that for me is to break 16 mins for 5k, 36 for 10k, 80 mins for HM and 3 hours for a marathon.
What would be your one piece of essential advice to someone looking to start up running?
Don’t be afraid to fail, I’ve found every set back has made me a more determind runner. Also don’t do something just cause everyone says so, learn what works for you and stick to it. No two runners are the same.
What is your favourite piece of running kit?
I love my Tribesports kit, the quality really put leading brands to shame. My other is my Oofos my feet love them.
And finally, what’s your favourite thing about running?
You learn more about yourself via running then anything else. I’ve learn my body is capable of so much more. Running is my drug and I had withdrawals when I don’t run.
