An incredible 327,323 Jantastic workouts have been logged so far; 4044 Team UKRunChat Workouts; & 3376 Team UKRunChat runs.

Can you believe it’s March already?  We’re now into the last 3rd of Jantastic 2015 so it’s the final push to get those workouts in and reach those goals.  Considering most people give up New Year resolutions within a few days it’s simply brilliant to see so many people still sticking with it & smashing those goals.

Cross Training

We have come so far in Jantastic and as get closer to the final target most of you will be running further & getting more mileage in than you have before.  It’s important to remember some cross training is very beneficial to running.  Core strength is a key part of running and will help you in your training.  Everyone has different needs.  I do some core work, a bit of yoga and some back & shoulder strength exercises.

Hopefully Jantastic has encouraged the cross training too with the bike & swim targets.  And I hope a lot of you are getting involved in the UkRunChat Squat-tastic challenge that started on March 2nd– it’s not too late to start!


Don’t forget the Jokers are there to help us out so we don’t push through injuries/illnesses and can take time to recover fully.  You can play 1 per calendar month and there are 2 available for the whole challenge.

I had to play my 1st joker for last week as I couldn’t run on Sunday due to my knee playing up.  I’m trying to make sure I’m doing all the right things to get it back to normal for my half marathon on March 15th.  I don’t know about you but in the 1st two days my knee was sore I was seeking advice & then realised I should follow my own advice too: NHS have some knee strengthening exercises on their website which are very good (see link below).
