What made you get into running?
I’ve always been sporty and outdoorsy but had neglected this for a number of years and I’d put on a lot of weight. I knew I had to change for my health so decided to run.
What has been your proudest/best running moment?
The changes as my running progresses and new challenges are undertaken but my first ultra – a 52 miler – back in July 2014 is probably my proudest moment.
The fact I find it easy to slip into bad eating habits and therefore feel like not running.
Who is your inspiration, and why?
Too many too mention! I gain inspiration from those around me be it those doing their first parkrun to epic ultra marathon runners doing multi stage or big mileage races.
What are your future goals?
To be a better/efficient ultra runner and taking on 100 milers and a big multi day event such as the Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon.
What would be your one piece of essential advice to someone looking to start up running?
Do it! Join your local parkrun.
What is your favourite piece of running kit?
I like my Ultimate Direction running vest. Pockets galore and very comfortable on long runs.
And finally, what’s your favourite thing about running?
The freedom of just being outdoors on the trails.
