I write to give you all an update on this years route for the Shrewsbury Half Marathon.  

This year the entire industry is seeing vastly reduced numbers of participants taking part in running events. From parkrun to events up and down the country events are seeing 50% reductions in participants sign ups compared with pre-covid event numbers. Additionally in all areas of life we are seeing prices go up and this is the same with the third party providers we use to facilitate the Shrewsbury Half Marathon.  These factors put significant strain on events financially to be able to go ahead.  

We want the event to go ahead, thus to ensure that this can happen, there will be a change to the route.

The race will be a 2 lap loop of which you can see on this link.

The Metric Half Marathon will also be a two lap loop along the same stretch of countryside. 

These routes are being accurately measured by UK Athletics next week. 

Transfers were due to close Sunday 11th September at midnight. We are extending the date for transfers to another runner to Sunday 25th of September at midnight as bib numbers will start to be posted from Monday 26th September. If you wish to defer your place to 2023 you can. Please email info@shrewsburyhalf.com to do so by September the 25th.
