One Running Movement Shropshire

The organisers of One Running Movement, a collaborative evolution for movement and change, have confirmed that two events will take place in Shropshire during 2020.

One Running Movement Shropshire will take place at Shropshire County Showground on Saturday 4th April 2020. Shropshire is home to the very first Schools Half Marathon which trialled in 2017 and which went on to welcome 1,800 pupils from 32 schools in 2019.

One Running Movement Telford & Wrekin will take place at Telford Athletic Stadium on Saturday 4th July 2020. It marks the second consecutive year for the event in Telford & Wrekin, following a highly successful inaugural event in June 2019.

Both events have again received a fantastic uptake, with over 1,600 already signed up for Shropshire, and there is still time to sign up for those wanting to take part this upcoming school year.

Telford and Wrekin Schools Half Marathon 2019One Running Movement offers non-competitive, virtual and live cumulative running events for all ages at both the half marathon and marathon distance. The two Shropshire events will welcome runners aged 4 to 12 taking part in Schools Running Movement and runners of all ages from 13+ taking part in One Running Movement.

Everyone will come together to run the last 1.1 (Half Marathon) or 1.2 (Marathon) mile of their challenge at the respective venues, and the atmosphere promises to be incredible as the runners cross the finish line and receive their medal and carton of water in front of family and friends.

Each event will be split into separate waves for School Entry and Direct Entry, so that all school pupils run together in their own waves. Direct Entry is a great chance for family members, children, siblings and adults to sign up independently as an individual or group. They complete the miles in their own time, receive rewards along the way just like everyone else, and still have the chance to join the thrilling live event. A #GiveBack initiative has been created so that £5 from every Direct Entry goes towards funding Schools Half Marathon places for children aged 4-12.

Any school, group or individual not able to attend either of the final events has the option to complete their cumulative half marathon or marathon virtually.

Schools Half Marathon Brighton and Hove 2019One Running Movement has experienced huge growth over the last year as it continues in its drive to inspire current and future generations to embrace regular physical activity and #MoveForLife. The movement is playing an important part in encouraging youngsters, their families and individuals to move more, reduce screen time and build confidence through sport.

Events are taking place across the country during 2020; all events and locations can be found on the One Running Movement Event Map.

Signing up to any of the events as a school, group or individual can be done online through the Registration Entry Forms.

One Running Movement Co-Founder Joe Williams commented, “We are delighted to confirm details of our two events in Shropshire for 2020. Both Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin received a fantastic response in 2019, and it is exciting to welcome new and returning schools to our events this upcoming school year. It is very special to be able to bring everyone together to celebrate completion of their cumulative challenge, and we all really look forward to event day as it is such a memorable and inspiring moment for all involved. Our mission is to encourage current and future generations to embrace regular physical activity and #MoveForLife, and we are committed to making this possible for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. We are incredibly proud that these two Shropshire events are the foundation of our ever-expanding portfolio.”
