The 2017 and inaugural Oswestry Half Marathon is a sell out! We do have a number of places left running for Hope House.  There is more information here.  Please note there will be no transfer of places after 4pm on the 30th of March.

Oswestry Half Marathon, April 30th 2017 | SOLD OUT

Shropshire newest and the UK’s most unique running event is coming to Oswestry on April 30th 2017.  Organised by the team from UKRunChat Events, this will be our 2nd Half Marathon following the highly successful Shrewsbury Half in June 2016.

The course begins and ends at the British Ironworks Sculpture Park, home of the world famous Spoon Gorilla and truly amazing Knife Angel.  Tale a look at these and get excited that the team are committed to making the most dramatic finishers medal that you simply must add to your collection.

The 90-acre ground lends itself to all sorts of events, with free parking, an on site coffee shop and the most fantastic collection of metal work you will have plenty to keep you occupied both pre and post race. Grab yourself a pre-race massage from one of the Physio’s, warm up among the life size animal sculptures and take a look around the Athletes Village before you #RunOswestry.

Registration is now live: affiliated £24.50 & non affiliated £26.50. Team entry: £100.00.

The Route

You will run the first km within the grounds of the Sculpture Park, look out for the wild animals running along the route with you, you would be forgiven for thinking they were real as you pass packs of leaping Wildebeest, Cheetah’s, life size Elephants and a troop of the most colourful Gorillas you have ever seen.

As you run through this friendly Border Town you will notice the mixture of Welsh and English Street names telling tales of how Oswestry passed from English to Welsh rule in years gone by.  We have a fantastic hill to test you between mile 6 and 7 before you have a gradual decline all the way back to the finish line which makes the second half of the race fast and Oswestry a great event to push for a PB.

Make sure you keep an eye out for different sculptures littered through out the route and we will keep you entertained with music at various points of the race as well.

As you head back into the Sculpture Park and cross the finish line you will receive a medal like no other, produced by the British Ironworks, your finishers tech t-shirt and your goody bag.  Then head into a festival of Bank Holiday activities for the family and kids. Think Falconary displays, food stalls and fun filled activities for the kids.
