Endurance Sports TV are excited to announce the Worldwide Premiere of the PATAGONMAN 2019 Extreme Triathlon documentary. Experience the beauty and excitement of PATAGONMAN 2019 Extreme Triathlon, with the participation of world-renowned athlete Tim Don.
Ignacio Valdivieso, PATAGONMAN Xtri Race Director said: “We wanted to develop what we did last year and create a film which remains true to the PATAGONMAN core values. This new documentary shows our ability as humans to cope with the biggest imaginable challenges and how we can take different approaches to adversity but at the end we are all so similar in our soul.
“In times when the world seems to be stopping for a moment giving us the opportunity to reflect about our actions and its consequences, this documentary shows us that sometimes going back to the basics, to nature, to our roots, to simplicity… can bring us more reward in life than to keep pushing ourselves to edge of consumption.”
The exclusive documentary will be available to watch on endurance sports TV on Wednesday 25 March at 6PM GMT and Endurance Sports TV are offering everyone 3 months free subscription to their channel. Sign up online here https://bit.ly/3monthsFREE
A triathlon like no other, PATAGONMAN is an unforgettable journey through one of the most amazing natural settings in the world. It starts before sunrise in the Aysen Fjord, where the athletes must jump from a ferryboat into the icing cold water, to swim 3.8 kilometers toward Puerto Chacabuco.
From there, they ride 180 kilometers into the windy, winding and hilly road of the famous Carretera Austral to Cerro Castillo, one of the most scenic postcards of Patagonia and the only 180 km of the iconic Carretera Austral that have actual pavement. And from Villa Cerro Castillo, the race finishes with the marathon (42.2 Km) through dirt trails and rubble roads following the Ibáñez River through forest, next to beautiful lakes and waterfalls all the way to the General Carrera Lake, another landmark of the region.
The second edition in December 2019 did not disappoint and a glorious day in beautiful Patagonia received the hundreds of athletes from 45 different countries who had the guts to face the raw nature of PATAGONMAN.
About Tim Don
4x World Champion, 3x Olympian, 2x Ironman Champion, 1x World Record, Tim Don is undeniably an icon of triathlon; breaking Ironman records, winning world championships and, of course, recovering to race from a broken neck. After earning short-course kudos as a 3x Olympian, 4x ITU World Champion (in triathlon and duathlon) and countless ITU World Cup victor, “The Don” turned his attention to the half Ironman distance. His unrivalled foot pace and light, lithe running form transitioned seamlessly to longer racing, resulting in a tidy collection of Ironman 70.3 titles, as well as an Ironman victory in his first attempt at the distance and breaking the ironman distance world record.
With his warm and slightly eccentric personality, this versatile competitor is often considered a favourite at any distance!
In Tim’s own words, the PATAGONMAN 2019 Extreme Triathlon was probably one of the hardest triathlons he has ever done but what a spectacular race and yet another amazing achievement.
