Edition 38 of the Roc d’Azur will be held from October 5th to 9th 2022, in Fréjus (Var). This year there will be two major innovations: new events in the Estérel massif and the appearance of three trail races on the programme.

Since its creation in 1984, the Roc d’Azur has never stopped innovating. This edition will continue the tradition. Alongside the races that have made the event famous and successful for every mountain bike enthusiast, the Roc d’Azur 2022 experience has been enriched.

The Conquest of the Massif de l’Estérel
On Friday 7 October, the Rando Roc Estérel, the Rando Roc Electrique Estérel and the Rando Roc Gravel Estérel, three new rides in the hills above Saint-Raphaël, will offer participants the privilege of enjoying the splendour of the Massif de l’Estérel. On the programme: a start and finish in the Cap Estérel village of Saint-Raphaël. The participants in the XC events can choose among three distances (22, 29 and 38 km) in the heart of the ochre rocks with, at the bend in the road, breath-taking panoramas of the Mediterranean. These three rides laid out on technically accessible courses for everyone will boast a unique feature: the possibility to choose the distance during the event according to their fitness, the weather conditions or simply their preferences. The participants of the Rando Roc Gravel Estérel will be able to ride a distance of 47 km or prolong the effort up to 50 km and even 58 km.

Trail riding added to the Roc d’Azur
Outdoor sports enthusiasts constitute a large family, often with shared values. Following the introduction of the Tri Roc in 2012, the Roc d’Azur wanted to open up the festivities to new enthusiasts. For edition 38, three trail events will complete the programme on Saturday, 8 October. Nature race lovers will set off from Roquebrune-sur-Argens for 16 km (elevation gain: 515 m), 32 km (elevation gain: 960 m) and 44 km (elevation gain: 1,500 m) events. On the two longer distances, the small tracks will lead the participants to the magnificent Rocher de Roquebrune, which rises above the Argens plain and offers exceptional panoramic views. Trail riders will enjoy an extraordinary horizon, a wonderful welcome gift.

And of course, the classics!
Participants will, of course, find all the traditional events of the Roc d’Azur: Roc XC Rally and Roc Trophy (one event per day over five days) on Wednesday, Tri Roc on Thursday, Canyon Roc Marathon (last event of the UCI MTB Marathon Series) and Roc Ruelles de Fréjus on Friday, Rando Roc Noire, Rando Roc Déguisée, Gravel Roc, Kid Roc for the youngsters or Roc Tandems on Saturday and, as a final highlight, the Roc d’Azur on Sunday with nearly 4,000 riders on the start line, including some of the world’s best, who are delighted to come and conclude their season in the South of France.
