What an amazing record-breaking Windy Hill Fell Race it was on Saturday 8th February.
Battling against the beginning of Storm Ciara, over 400 runners took to the hills in testing but bright conditions, all of which with huge smiles on their faces. With a route which took on Old Roman Road at Blackstone Edge, passing Windy Hill to then descend quickly to finish where it began at the back of Hollingworth Lake, the 9 mile route and 390m ascent tested both experienced and first time participants with the help of the our very dedicated Cannonball Events volunteers.
Littleborough-based Cannonball Events, the North West based Events Company who deliver the Windy Hill Fell Race, Canalathon, Trailblaster and the OMC Ron Hill Accrington 10K were also pleased to introduce to the runners product support from their nutrition partner Kendal Mint Co before they took to the Fell.
John Lloyd, CEO of Cannonball Events said, “We are over the moon to have seen record numbers on the 2020 Windy Hill Fell Race. Even with the weather forecast against us, the event ran extremely well and over 400 runners ran with huge smiles on their races”.
Paul Pruzina from Pudsey & Bramley AC won the men’s crow in a time of 57m41s and for the ladies it was Julie Darigala representing Penistone Footpath Runners & Athletics Club with a time of 1h13m43s.
