The organisers of Shrewsbury Half Marathon, UK Run Events, have announced that volunteer opportunities are available for the event on Sunday 17th June 2018.

Volunteering at Shrewsbury Half Marathon is a fantastic chance to experience the thrill of race day whilst contributing to the success of this popular community event.

As well as enjoying a great day with like-minded people, race volunteers help ensure the smooth running of the event and provide support to all the runners taking on this scenic half marathon.

There are lots of great opportunities for volunteers at Shrewsbury Half, with roles ranging from helping at water stations, in the baggage area, in the finish funnel, on course and more.

Volunteers need no prior experience – just 4-6 hours spare on the day, a positive attitude and a big smile! A full volunteer briefing takes place two weeks before race day.

Volunteering is ideal for local community groups wanting to volunteer as a team, as well as for individuals, friends and local sports clubs and colleges. It is also a great opportunity for those who are unable to run to still be involved in the excitement of the day.

Shrewsbury Half Marathon UK Run EventsWith just four weeks until race day, now is the time to sign up to volunteer and be a part of Shrewsbury Half Marathon.

Shrewsbury Half Marathon offers a perfect mix of history and scenery, the closed-road route taking runners through Shrewsbury’s Medieval city centre and out into the beautiful Shropshire countryside. It is one of the UK’s most picturesque half marathons, making it a must-do event for both runners and volunteers. The event boasts a first-class race village at the 53-acre Shropshire County Showground, where a number of volunteer positions will be based.

Race Director Joe Williams commented, “The 2018 Shrewsbury Half Marathon promises to be the biggest and best yet, meaning that we will be operating a fantastic team of volunteers to make sure everything goes smoothly on the day. Volunteering is a wonderful way to be part of a team and enjoy plenty of interaction with the runners, spectators and other volunteers. If anyone has a few hours free to help on the day, we’d love to hear from you. For those still wishing to run, it’s not too late to enter and we look forward to cheering you over the finish line next month!”
