I ran this race the other day and I thought I would share my story.
This 10km is the 3rd race of 3 in The Northern Scot Series. The 1st takes place in Nairn, then Elgin and finally Benromach. We start and finish at Benromach distillery. One of the advantages of living in Moray is there are a lot of distillerys and quite a few races start from them.
Benromach is the flatest of the 3 races, so, in theory should be the fastest, however, for myself it has always been my slowest, I think because it is so flat I find it boring compared to the undulations of the other races. However I decided to try and break my slow pace. There were about 190 runners in this race and I had my plan to run a fast race (well fast for me)
The day started very wet, but by the time the race started it was dry and warm, slightly too warm, however there was a 10 mile an hour breeze and as this route is circular the wind would move around as we went round the course.
I ran the race to plan and I finished in my fastest ever 10km.
This is a good race for any runner who is new to running and wants to do their first 10km, there were many new runners here, who will hopefully enter the other races in the area.
