Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones, the award winning 100km ultra marathon, takes place on 13th and 14th July 2019 and will see more than 2,500 people run, jog or walk along the Ridgeway in Oxfordshire to the Avebury Stone Circle in Wiltshire.
At the 2018 annual Running Awards, Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones was voted Best Endurance Event in the UK. Participants can choose to either tackle the 100km in one day or, cover the route at a more leisurely pace and opt for the two-day package, covering 50km each day and spending the night at the festival basecamp.
For those who opt for the two-day package, comfortable tents, massages, hot showers, delicious hot food, cold drinks and live entertainment awaits at the festival basecamp located at the half way point.
From the start at Lewknor in Oxfordshire, the route passes up and along the high ground South West to the Thames crossing at Goring. From this point it rises up onto the North Wessex Downs passing golden fields before the iconic finish between the towering stones of Avebury.
Along the way, participants will pass through what has been referred to by some as the Field of Dreams. The route runs through crop fields which each year, bloom with different colours making for a beautiful sight.
The Ridgeway is recognised as the oldest path in the UK, lined with Bronze Age hill forts, Neolithic burial chambers and Roman river crossings, culminating in the largest Neolithic stone circle in Europe.
A part of the Threshold Trail Series, which includes Race to the King and HEINEKEN Race to the Tower, Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones is a fully supported event. The course is sign posted and everyone is given a map book with information about the route, views and landmarks. The pit stops are roughly every five to six miles and include toilets, food, drinks and medical support.
Across the board, the Threshold Trail Series has a 50/50 split between male and female participants.
Those looking to sign up to Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones can do so via a range of packages, including: 100km nonstop for £134 or £39 charity entry; two-day weekender incl. camping £199 or £64 charity entry; two-day weekender excl. camping for £119.
Participants can also choose to take part in either day one or day two for £69 or £149 including camping.
After 31st January 2019 prices will rise to £139, £204, £124, £74, £154 respectively.
