One of London’s most unique autumn events is set to return this October, as participants from across the UK take on the London Halloween Walk.
This year’s event falls on Halloween night and will see thousands of walkers tackle the 25km Halloween Hike or 10km spooky stroll, following looped routes that weave through some of the city’s most historic haunts, riverside paths and iconic landmarks, all with a suitably eerie twist.
Starting and finishing at The Oval Cricket Ground, transformed for the occasion into the event’s very own dungeon, participants will head out on fully supported routes that take in highlights such as Westminster Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, St Katharine Docks, and atmospheric riverside sections along the Thames. With zombie-themed rest stops, costumed marshals and Halloween surprises throughout, the event offers a playful yet challenging way to explore London after dark.
It is the final Ultra Challenge Series event of the year and, with many participants choosing to dress up, its colourful and inclusive feel has made the Halloween Walk one of the series’ most distinctive events.
Participants receive full support across the challenge, including snacks and drinks at rest stops, hot food and refreshments at the finish, medical teams, marshals, and a fully signed route.
All walkers also receive a Halloween neck buff, medal, and certificate, adding to the festive spirit of the day. With good transport links and flexible start windows, the event is designed to be accessible for families, teams, charity groups and first-time walkers.
Participants can join as individuals or teams, either self-funding or supporting one of hundreds of charity partners. The Ultra Challenge Series continues to be one of the UK’s leading mass‑participation fundraising platforms, collectively raising millions of pounds each year. The Halloween event is expected to raise around £100,000.
