The Llandudno Sea Triathlon returns to the Welsh seaside resort of Llandudno on Sunday 25th June 2017 and promises to be a day of exciting race action set amongst spectacular scenery.

With less than three weeks to go, there is still time to enter and join athletes of all levels for this must-do event on the North Wales coast. As well as attracting many club and GB age group athletes to the main event, there is a women-only wave, the option to enter a relay team, as well as the swycle and aquathlon.

An important fixture in the triathlon calendar, the Llandudno Sea Triathlon offers a draft legal sprint, a non-drafting standard and a new middle distance race option for 2017.

Each option combines the thrill of a sea swim with a cycle on closed roads around the Great Orme headland, the cycle leg incorporating a challenging climb which then rewards competitors with a fast descent and sweeping coastal views. The run leg heads out along the Victorian Promenade before heading over the Little Orme to Penrhyn Bay and returning to finish on the promenade, where crowds of spectators await.

The middle distance race comprises a 1900m open water swim, an 87km cycle that starts with one lap of the Great Orme and continues around the Conwy hills, and a final 20km run along the coast. It is set to be a truly great middle distance event.

The standard distance race comprises a 1500m open water swim, a 36km cycle and a 10km run.

The sprint distance event is an ITU Sprint Distance Triathlon World Championship qualifier for the 2017 ITU Sprint Distance Triathlon World Championships in Rotterdam in September. This option comprises a 750m open water swim, a 19km cycle and a 5km run.

The sprint distance is a draft legal race; draft legal guidelines can be found here.

The best view for spectators is on the promenade, where they can watch all the action of the sea swim, view the transition area near the jetty and see the athletes cross the finish line. For many competitors, the Llandudno Sea Triathlon is a perfect excuse for a weekend away with family and friends, ensuring ample support on race day and a great buzz about town.

Competitors are advised to register on Saturday 24th June and the first wave starts on Sunday 25th June at 10:30am.
