Louis Robinett, the running sensation who smashed the 5k world record aged 9 years old, continues to reach new heights. In the last month alone, Louis has finished in first position at parkrun twice, finishing ahead of many runners twice his age, and 2nd in another.
Now aged 11, under the parkrun rules, Louis is allowed to run solo and has been taking full advantage of this. Louis finished in first position at Upton parkrun in February and March this year, finishing 58 seconds ahead of 2nd place on a tough off-road course. On 15th March, Louis finished in 2nd position at the popular Poole Parkrun, where he set his original record, ahead of the other 970 participants in a time of 17.01.
Louis, who is a member of Poole Runners, is ranked the fastest U11 on Run Britain and has won the title of Dorset County Cross Country Champion, Poole & East Dorset Cross Country Champion and South West Cross Country Champion this season.
Reflecting on his recent achievements, Louis said, “I love to run and to set myself new challenges. parkrun is a great test for me as I get to run with and against runners of all abilities. I’m looking forward to being able to compete nationally next year and challenge myself further.”
Louis, who is also a keen footballer and plays for AFC Bournemouth, continues to set the bar high and is an inspiration to all young athletes that the sky is the limit.
