The 13th edition of the Adidas TERREX Kendal Trail Run returned to the Kendal Mountain Festival in 2025, bringing together a strong field of runners eager to tackle the undulating course. With 250m of elevation, the route climbs to Scout Scar before returning to the town centre, offering a fast yet challenging test for athletes of all levels. From the start, the pace was quick, with running clubs from across the UK looking to make their mark. Local Kendal-based Helm Hill Runners turned out in force, including 2024 winner Tim Lamont, ensuring strong competition on home ground.

Race Highlights

In typical November Lake District fashion the weather was a mixed bag of low cloud and rain; much less severe than 2024’s Storm Bert rain.

The men’s race saw a fast start and tight competition at the front. Matthew Knowles of Carnethy Hill Racing Club powered to victory with a finishing time of 41 minutes 25 seconds, narrowly ahead of 2024 winner Tim Lamont (Helm Hill Runners) at 42 minutes 42.

In the women’s event, Katherine Maltby (Black Combe Runners) led from the front, crossing the line in 48 minutes 35 seconds. She was followed by Hannah Thomas (Ambleside AC) at 54 minutes 47 seconds and Victoria Thompson (Helm Hill Runners) at 55 minutes 14 seconds, rounding out a competitive podium.
