The Blenheim Palace Triathlon returns on 28th and 29th May 2022. Set in the beautiful private grounds of UNESCO World Heritage Site Blenheim Palace, this is one of the country’s most iconic races and one everyone should tick off their list!

Each year, it welcomes over 7,000 participants of all ages and abilities to swim, bike and run around this spectacular route.

The idyllic lake swim and closed road course make it a great event for both seasoned pros and first timers. 1 in 3 of our 2021 participants were first timers!

With an exciting line-up of on-the-day activities, it’s a great day out for the whole family! There will be family-friendly activities across the weekend including the Blenheim Palace Kids Duathlon Challenge, plus the opportunity to bring a picnic, soak up the festival atmosphere and explore the historic palace.

James Robinson, MD of the Limelight Sports Club, said: “We’re excited to bring the jewel in the crown of British triathlon events to the heart of Oxfordshire. A unique family-friendly event that will see thousands take on their own incredible journey, and help inspire the next generation of budding triathletes.”

Participants have the opportunity to take on 4 different challenges across the weekend from Super Sprint through to the ultimate test of endurance, the Weekend Warrior.

Blenheim Palace kids duathlon challenge
Don’t let adults have all the fun! Active Training World is hosting a Kids Duathlon Challenge for children of all abilities, aged 4 to 14. Take on a 400m Run and 800m Bike Laps to earn a medal, certificate and a chance to top the leaderboards.

Super sprint
The Super Sprint distance consists of a 400m Swim – 13.3km Bike – 2.9km Run. Enjoy the fresh lake open water swim, a gently undulating bike course and picturesque run route around the Queen’s Pool.

Sprint
The Sprint distance is 750m Swim – 19.8km Bike – 5.4km Run. The course consists of a fresh lake open water swim, a gently undulating bike course and a picturesque run around the Queen’s Pool.

Sprint relay
Entering as a Team Relay is a great introduction to triathlon. The concept is simple: 1 person swims, 1 person bikes and 1 person runs, in turn – 750m Swim – 19.8km Bike – 5.4km Run. The ‘baton’ (timing chip) is passed between team mates in transition. All members can then meet at the team meeting point to cross the finish line together. An awesome way to take on a triathlon with friends, family or colleagues.

Weekend warrior
The ultimate test of endurance. Warriors must complete as many triathlons as possible during racing hours, across both days of the event weekend. The winner is the Warrior who completes the most. In 2020, the Weekend Warrior record was broken by Stephen Mott who completed a staggering 11 back to back sprint triathlons in one weekend.
