The training ground of Gran Canaria has just got even more accessible for triathletes with today’s announcement of a partnership between the island’s leading resort operator, Anfi Group, and CHALLENGEFAMILY.

Anfi Group owns two resorts in the south west of the island – Anfi del Mar is a tropical sanctuary of peace and tranquility with white sand beaches where, for over three decades, it has offered world-class family vacations. Anfi Tauro Golf & Luxury Resort boasts a luxury hotel and unique designer villas combined with one of the best golf courses in Europe. Both resorts, comprised of five fully equipped clubs, have developed a strong focus on the needs and experiences of athletes, as well as their families.

Today’s announcement will provide access for athletes to both of Anfi Group’s exclusive members’ resorts, allowing them to combine an ideal training destination with a relaxing family holiday. Gran Canaria is renowned for its near perfect weather and varied terrain, from the mountainous interior roads to the spectacular coastal running tracks and the winds that haunt other Canary Islands are notably absent, all adding up to a hard-to-beat training destination.

“As every athlete knows, it’s always a juggle combining work, training and family and invariably one misses out!” said Jort Vlam, CEO of CHALLENGEFAMILY. “At Anfi Group resorts, athletes can train guilt-free on some of the best terrain in Europe, happy in the knowledge the rest of their family is enjoying an amazing holiday in a world-class resort that they can all share together. Anfi Group’s commitment to excellence and their guests, with a focus on family, aligns perfectly with CHALLENGEFAMILY. They can even do something we wish we could at our events – guarantee fine weather with over 300 days of sunshine every year! At CHALLENGEFAMILY everything revolves around the experience of the sport and to enjoy together what makes triathlon so beautiful. That is much more than ‘only’ training, swimming, biking and running. It’s also about meeting new people, visiting new places and seeing the world as much as possible and Anfi provides the perfect opportunity to achieve this.”

José Luis Trujillo, CEO of the Anfi Group, highlights that choosing Anfi del Mar (Gran Canaria) as the base for Challenge reaffirms “the exceptional conditions we offer to hold any sporting event”. In a natural setting where training and recuperation are optimal all year round, together with “top class infrastructure, right on the beach with the required health and safety guarantees, make Anfi a stunning location to host competitions of any level”. Anfi del Mar, continued Trujillo, “is a real oasis for training as well as for good rest and spending quality time with the family, always sheltered by our privileged climate”. The head of Anfi stressed that “over the last decade we have become a benchmark in our own right for major athletes (Alberto Contador, Mikel Landa, Mario Chipollini, Román Kreuziger, David Silva, Jan Frodeno, Laura Siddall, Patrick Langue, Pablo Dapena, etc) and elite teams (Movistar Team, Ineos, Tinkoff, Swiss and Italian nationals cycling teams) who have discovered in this ‘home from home’ champion destination”. With this new step and with the help of Challenge Family, Anfi “hosts triathlon with great enthusiasm and with the conviction so for visitors, it will be love at first sight.”

The partnership between Anfi Group and CHALLENGEFAMILY will include exclusive offers for CHALLENGEFAMILY athletes when they travel to either of Anfi Group’s luxury resorts on Gran Canaria to train and holiday with their family.
