Step One Boxer Brief Sport retail at £15.00 for a single pair which, lets be honest, isnt cheap for a pair of pants. BUT I am sold!

Finding the right base layer for long runs especially can be crucial. We’re always on the lookout for game-changing kit, and the Step One Boxer Brief Sport has certainly earned a permanent spot in my drawer.

I’ve been testing these since late February and have clocked up over half a dozen long runs in them, including sessions up to 10 miles. In short, they’re excellent. Incredibly comfortable, they’ve quickly become my go-to for long-distance training, even replacing some long-trusted base layers I’ve worn for years.

Key Features That Stand Out:

UltraGlyde™ Panels

The extended UltraGlyde™ panels run down the thighs to prevent chafing — a common nuisance on longer runs for me. In wet or warm conditions, I’ve experienced zero rubbing, which speaks volumes about the design’s practicality.

3D Comfort Pouch
Let’s talk support. The 3D comfort pouch is genuinely one of the best features. It keeps everything securely in place, reducing distractions and enhancing comfort from the off.

Durability After Washes
This is something I will update on the blog periodically, so far, after multiple wears and washes, they’ve retained their shape and support with zero signs of wear and tear. The fabric remains soft, no loose threads, no bobbling.

No Ride-Up Fit
This is a pet hate for me. Thanks to the longer leg and design, there’s no annoying riding-up mid-run. Once they’re on, they stay put. Big green tick for this!

If you’re a distance runner looking for a base layer that performs, the Step One Boxer Brief Sport is well worth a look. These are now a firm part of my long-run kit.

Verdict: Highly Recommended
