Here at runr, we’re doing as much as we can to make sure that we source products that are not adding to the challenges that we are already facing around the globe.

The recent focus on plastic use and recycling is at the forefront of our mind when we consider what new products to launch and this will always be important to us.

With that in mind, we wanted to share with you some of the areas where we’re ensuring we’re meeting with our customers, and the wider publics, expectations. From using organic cotton, to recycled materials, as well as only using packaging that is biodegradable.

Organic Cotton

The organic cotton used in some of our runr products is grown organically in Eastern Europe without the use of any synthetic chemicals, fertilisers or pesticides. Its production promotes biodiversity and biological cycles which is really important to the environment.  Our runr Everyday Hoodies were the first products that we ever launched and continue to be one of our most popular range due to the quality of the product and the fact that they are made from 100% organic cotton.

Recycled Materials

With so many new materials being produced and waste being created, we feel it’s really important to use recycled materials where possible and we’re pleased to be able to offer a range of products made from 100% recycled materials.
Two of those products that are made form 100% recycled materials are our runr Retro Jumpers and our runr Baseball Tees. Each product is made from 60% recycled organic cotton and 40% recycled polyester. This means we’re not creating products from scratch whilst also using materials that would otherwise end up in landfill, or worse, the sea.

Bamboo
Last year, we were able to source our cool runr Sunglasses that are predominantly made from 100% bamboo. Bamboo has the huge benefit that it is a very sustainable crop that requires no fertiliser and very little water to grow. It also regenerates itself very fast meaning little work to replant it using machinery.

Packaging

We’re also proud to say that we now send every order out using material that is degradable and biodegradable. Due to the way that the bags are produced, when exposed to natural sunlight, a reaction is triggered causing a natural chain reaction which makes the bag safe for bio-digestion.

Plastic bags are a no-no!

We often attend events both to run in and retail at and towards the end of 2018, we made the decision to move away from plastic bags. We now use only paper bags should anyone need one for their purchase. We encourage customers to reuse any existing bags they have, but should they need a paper bag, they can be fully reused or recycled in future.

As we grow as a business, we continue to look for new products that meet the expectations of the running community and we’ll do our utmost to meet and exceed these.

Have a great week and happy running!

Team runr.
