Grounded Events Company Ltd. (GEC), organisers of Brighton Marathon Weekend have announced the launch of Brighton Trail Weekend, set to take place 25-26 June 2022.
Working closely with experienced, local trail runners, Brighton & Hove City Council and South Downs National Park, GEC have crafted an inspiring weekend of trail running in the beautiful Sussex countryside.
In the same vein as Brighton Marathon Weekend, Brighton Trail Weekend will offer a marathon, 10k and youth distance event in the summer of next year.
Tom Naylor, Event Director said, “We are extremely proud to launch Brighton Trail Weekend. This is set to be a truly unique trail running event with the Marathon starting from the city centre and finishing in the South Downs. As a ‘Brightonian’ who grew up running on the local trails, I cannot wait to see it come to life. We very much hope to welcome new runners to Brighton but also the many that have previously taken part in Brighton Marathon Weekend, and offer them an amazing running experience in the beautiful South Downs National Park.
Brighton Trail Weekend is set to be a positive addition to Brighton & Hove’s events calendar, helping to boost the local economy following a very challenging year. It will also build on the fantastic charity fundraising achievement of Brighton Marathon Weekend, giving participants the chance to raise much needed funds in support of their chosen charities.”
Brighton Trail Marathon will start on Brighton’s iconic seafront from the Brighton Marathon finish line. Runners will head straight into the South Downs National Park and discover rolling hills, chalky trails and Sussex woodlands. Finishing at the Event Village in Stanmer Park, they will enjoy stunning scenery with friends & family as they celebrate their incredible achievement.
Also taking place will be Brighton Trail 10k, set in the impressive estate of Brighton’s Stanmer Park and South Downs National Park. The Brighton Trail 10k will wind through the woodland of Stanmer’s grade II registered landscape and the picturesque hills beyond before finishing in the Event Village, ahead of the marathon runners.
Following in the footsteps of the Mini Mile Races at Brighton Marathon Weekend, Brighton Trail Kids will be a safe and fully supported trail run for under-17s, set alongside the Brighton Trail 10k in the woods and fields of Stanmer Park. More information will be released soon.
