This includes IRONMAN Jacksonville, offering athletes a fresh full-distance experience along Florida’s vibrant Atlantic coastline; as well as exciting new IRONMAN 70.3 races such as IRONMAN 70.3 Dallas–Little Elm, showcasing the energy of North Texas; IRONMAN 70.3 Omaha, bringing a premier race experience to the heart of the Midwest; IRONMAN 70.3 Ruidoso–New Mexico, set among the high-altitude beauty of southern New Mexico; and IRONMAN 70.3 Northern California, delivering a quintessential West Coast course featuring iconic scenery of Redding and Northern California’s Mount Shasta. This surge reflects athletes’ appetite for new destinations, iconic courses, and the unforgettable race-day experience that defines the brand. And the momentum isn’t slowing down, Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas, IRONMAN Canada-Ottawa, and Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside are already seeing unprecedented demand and are on track to sell out soon. Together, these events reflect the heightened interest and expanding opportunities awaiting athletes in the 2026 season.
Data and trends
IRONMAN is celebrating its growth as younger athletes embrace the sport. The average competitor age dropped from 43 in 2024 to 42 in 2025, and early registrations for 2026 reveal an average age of just 39, underscoring the brand’s increasing appeal to the next generation of endurance athletes.
In 2025, over 37,000 athletes crossed their very first IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon finish line in Canada or the U.S., marking a 12% year-on-year increase. Two markets that saw the greatest overall growth in athletes were Canada with a 20% growth, and the Chicago, Ill. area saw an increase in athletes by 37%.
