Altra is releasing the second version of the FWD VIA on 3 December 2025. The update includes a new midsole foam (Altra EGO™ P35), changes to the engineered mesh upper, and a redesigned tongue. The aim of these updates is to make the shoe softer underfoot, more breathable and more comfortable for longer runs or daily mileage.

The FWD VIA 2 keeps the 4mm drop and rocker geometry from the original model, designed to encourage a smooth, steady roll through the stride. It also continues with Altra’s “FootShape™” fit, which provides a wide toe box and a roomier midfoot compared with many traditional road shoes.

The shoe is classed as neutral with a max-cushion set-up (33mm/37mm stack height). It has been recognised by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) as a product that supports good foot health.
