Olympic Champion and six-time World Triathlon Champion Jonny Brownlee will join One Good Thing as Head of Global Partnerships.
One Good Thing (OGT) is a pioneering nutrition business on a mission to eliminate single-use plastic from the snack and sports nutrition arena.
Driven by a shared passion to eliminate single-use plastic waste from the countryside and oceans whilst fuelling people healthily, Brownlee joins OGT to accelerate its commercial footprint and help lead the transition toward a plastic wrapper-free future.
At the heart of OGT’s mission is its proprietary, world-first coating and manufacturing technologies: a 100% natural, edible beeswax that replaces traditional plastic wrappers, applied using bespoke manufacturing technology developed in-house. The coating completely removes the need for traditional plastic or composite packaging: it seals in freshness, protects the bar during transit, and leaves zero waste behind, delivering high-performance nutrition that leaves no trace on the planet.
Beyond its current range of wrapper-free oat bars, OGT is actively developing new applications for these unique technologies, exploring solutions across broader FMCG food categories to tackle single-use plastic at scale.
In his new role, Brownlee will leverage his athletic background and global network to drive strategic partnerships across corporate B2B channels, high-profile ambassador networks and major sports organisations. He will also work directly alongside co-founders Mike and Daniel Bedford on product innovation and serve as a key brand ambassador.
Mike Bedford, Co-Founder of OGT, commented: “I’m thrilled that Jonny shares OGT’s vision for our all natural plastic wrapper-free nutrition bars. From our very first meeting, it was clear he shared our passion for sustainability and we quickly agreed how he could accelerate our marketing efforts and amplify brand awareness. Together, we are excited to drive meaningful change in the industry.”
Dan Bedford, Co-Founder & CEO of OGT, commented: “Jonny Brownlee joining as our Head of Global Partnerships is a defining moment for OGT. He brings an Olympic athlete’s elite drive to our mission and his platform will help us scale our brand and technology to reach more consumers with our innovative nutrition bars. Together, we will work towards eliminating plastic waste on a global level while providing healthy fuel to people everywhere.”
Jonny Brownlee, Head of Global Partnerships at OGT, said: “I’m really excited to be joining OGT as Head of Global Partnerships. After retiring from professional sport, the timing feels right to take on a bigger role in a business I genuinely believe in.
“When I first met Mike, his passion and enthusiasm for OGT really stood out to me. The way he spoke about the business, what it stood for and what he wanted to achieve made me want to be part of it.
“Having spent my life in sport, I’m really pleased to be joining a company that has active living, getting outdoors, healthy nutrition and sustainability at its core. These are all things I’m passionate about and values that really align with my own.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience and energy to the team, helping grow the business and introducing OGT to more people around the world. It’s an exciting new chapter, and I can’t wait to get started.”
