Spain’s newest race – IRONMAN® 70.3® Málaga triathlon – has sold out in a record time of four days, making it the fastest ever selling Spanish race and the fastest sell-out in Europe for 2026.

Toeing the line at the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga event will be nearly 3,000 athletes from over 70 different countries with the home nation of Spain making up a third of participants. Outside of Spain, over 750 athletes will be travelling from the United Kingdom and Ireland, and over 100 athletes travelling from each France, Germany and Netherlands, making up a truly international field.

After record demand for all races across Europe in 2026, this new race offered athletes another chance at racing an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon this year leading to this historic sellout. Europe has experienced exponential growth through 2025 and 2026, with increased participation figures and notable trends such as younger athletes entering the sport earlier. To support the increasing demand, IRONMAN announced an additional four new races for the 2026 triathlon series, IRONMAN 70.3 Alghero, IRONMAN 70.3 Leipzig, IRONMAN 70.3 Vitoria-Gasteiz and IRONMAN70.3 Malaga – all of which are now sold out.

The course and destination boast perfect racing conditions with the mild Mediterranean climate, rich cultural heritage, world-class hospitality, and next level beauty. Málaga joins an iconic roaster of Spanish races; Calella, Barcelona; Valencia; Alcudia, Mallorca; Vitoria-Gasteiz; and Lanzarote, Canary Islands.
