It’s been an exciting 2023 season for German professional triathletes, with six out of 12 of the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship podium slots going to the Germans. There was a triple victory at the VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship Lahti with Rico Bogen, Frederik Funk and Jan Stratmann on the podium, followed by Patrick Lange taking second place at the VinFast IRONMAN World Championship in Nice just two weeks later. To top off an incredible season, Anne Haug and Laura Philip took second and third place respectively at the VinFast IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i.

Now the stage is set for another exciting year of racing in 2024, with two of the three full distance IRONMAN races within the newly announced IRONMAN Pro Series being in Germany. With a sell-out field in 2024, IRONMAN European Championship Hamburg will see athletes from 66 nations descend on the city to swim-bike-run their way around Germany’s second largest city.

Since 2022, the event has proudly hosted the IRONMAN European Championship for professionals, with a rotation between professional women and men set to take place every year. In 2022, Laura Philipp (GER) was crowned IRONMAN European Champion with a time of 08:18.20, a world best IRONMAN finish time. Last year, it was Frenchman, Denis Chevrot who took the men’s IRONMAN European Champion crown in an impressive time of 7:26.21. In 2024 the European Championship will rotate back to the professional women.

Athletes looking to race a full distance IRONMAN triathlon in Germany, should explore the Mainova IRONMAN European Championship Frankfurt or if they are looking for another iconic IRONMAN triathlon in June, a limited number of places remain for IRONMAN Kärnten-Klagenfurt, Austria which will be celebrating 25 years in 2024.

In addition to the Mainova IRONMAN European Championship Frankfurt on 18th August 2024, Germany also plays host to three middle distance races with the IRONMAN 70.3 Kraichgau powered by KraichgauEnergie on 26th May 2024, the IRONMAN 70.3 Duisburg on 1st September 2024 and the IRONMAN 70.3 Erkner, Brandenburg on 15th September 2024.
