A group of children race off the start line

WWF has been revealed as the new title partner of the Richmond RUNFEST’s Kids’ Mile event on Saturday 10th September.

Since the first ever RUNFEST Kids’ Mile in 2013, the event has grown a considerable amount. The main aim of the Richmond Kids’ Mile is to create a fun, inclusive event for kids from Reception to Year 11 where you don’t have to win to get a prize.

To make the event even more enjoyable this year, WWF have proposed a Wear it Wild theme where the kids will be encouraged to wear an item of animal-inspired clothing on race day.

Jade Bedford, Head of Charities for Richmond RUNFEST, said, “The Kids’ Mile holds a special place in my heart, I love seeing the enjoyment on our kids’ faces and watching them grow year on year. I am even more excited to see them this year embracing the Wear it Wild theme, I think this will not only bring another element of fun to the event, but also enable the children to understand why they are fundraising and how they are making a change.” ”

Arron Trott, Events Fundraising Manager for WWF-UK says, “WWF are delighted to be the official charity partner of the WWF Kids’ Mile on Saturday 10th September. To celebrate this partnership, WWF are encouraging all runners to ‘Wear it Wild’ on race day. Participants can embrace this theme simply by wearing an item of animal-related clothing, or heading to the start line in full fancy dress (face painting is optional!). All money raised through the WWF Kids’ Mile will be used to fund our conservation projects across the globe. Together we can save our one shared home.””

This year, Richmond RUNFEST will be celebrating their 10th birthday in style on 10th and 11th September. The Saturday (10th) will include great local bands along with kids’ entertainment from Brentford FC CST and Lions Sport Academy. There will be a bar for the thirsty adults and quality food vendors to sustain the kids and parents.

Why not make a day of it? There are places in the Richmond AIR 10K in the morning and the Visit Cayman Islands Sundown 5K in the evening for older siblings and parents – a chance for the whole family to get their hands on the fabulous chunky medal that the RUNFEST team are known for.
