Oakley and Meta have unveiled the next step in their collaboration — the Oakley Meta Vanguard, a new line of AI-powered performance glasses designed for athletes.

The launch follows earlier releases in Oakley and Meta’s Performance AI range, which combines Oakley’s sport-focused design with Meta’s wearable technology. The Meta Vanguard aims to provide real-time insights into training and performance, built for use in high-intensity sports and competition.

According to Oakley, the glasses are designed from the ground up to deliver “technological advancements that amplify human potential.” While details on the specific AI features are still limited, the glasses are expected to integrate tools for data feedback and performance tracking.

EssilorLuxottica, Oakley’s parent company, described connected eyewear as one of the fastest-growing areas in wearable tech. The Meta Vanguard will sit within a broader ecosystem of AI-enabled products being developed by the brand and Meta.

The new range will launch through a global campaign featuring Team Oakley athletes, including Mark Cavendish, alongside other high-profile names from sport such as Kylian Mbappé and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.

As wearable technology continues to evolve, Oakley’s move signals a growing interest in bringing AI-driven insights directly into the athlete’s field of vision — blending performance eyewear with real-time data support.

“Our Goal at Oakley is always to create for the future and deliver to the present,” says Caio Amato, Oakley Global President. “Oakley invented the sports performance category, now with Oakley Meta Vanguard we’re setting another new baseline for what is possible. We wanted to redefine what an eyewear could be by delivering Performance AI glasses, technological advancements that truly amplify human potential. And it’s a leap toward a new era of human possibilities.”

“Glasses have emerged as the fastest-growing category in wearable technology, and we’re proud to be leading the charge with the introduction of a series of new wearables,” said Rocco Basilico, Chief Wearables Officer for EssilorLuxottica.

“Our products have demonstrated that when iconic design meets breakthrough AI technology, most recently with the Oakley Meta HSTN leading our sports category, the result is wearable tech that the world will embrace, transforming how we view the future of eyewear. With Meta, our offerings will anchor a category that spans functions, technologies, brands, and communities worldwide. We’re looking at a long runway ahead of us.”
