In just over a week, 2800 athletes will descend on the sunny East Coast of Spain to race in the inaugural first edition of IRONMAN® 70.3® Valencia.

On its circuit debut, IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia is already proving to be a hit with athletes, with the race selling out in just over 2 months, making it the fastest sell out of the season. And, with a 100+ strong professional field, fans can expect to see some incredible racing in this culture steeped city.

Third place finisher in the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN® World Championship, Laura Philipp (DEU) will be headlining the female professional race, while compatriot, Jan Stratmann, who also came third in the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship will be wearing bib number one in the men’s field.

A strong Spanish contingent across both fields including the likes of Antonio Benito López, Sara Perez Sala, Judith Corachan Vaquera and more, could mean that a National hero is crowned IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia champion. Benito López, wearing bib number two, comes off a strong 2023 season which saw him take the win at both IRONMAN 70.3 Pucon and IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea.

French Olympian and last year’s IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside winner, Léo Bergère will no doubt be looking for another early season win to secure his place for the IRONMAN 70.3
World Championship in Taupō, and will be up against fellow Frenchmen Antony Costes and Arnaud Guilloux.

Other athletes include Daniela Kleiser (DEU), Elizabetta Curridori (ITA), Lizzie Rayner (GBR) and more (see below).

Professional athletes will be racing for one of two slots (per gender) for the 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Taupō, as well as a piece of the $40,000 total prize fund.

With a finish line alongside the iconic Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (“City of Arts and Sciences”), the IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia triathlon will be a true city race that will enable athletes to soak up everything Valencia has to offer. Starting with a sea swim in the Valencia Marina, a bike course through Serra de la Calderona – a stunning mountain range just 20km from the centre of Valencia – and finally a run along the beautiful Túria River path, this race is a fusion of iconic city views and lush green nature.
