The new Joma R-2000 has been given a bespoke design for each of six races. The editions created for the EDP Maratona do Porto, Behobia-San Sebastián, Firenze Marathon, Wizz Air Venicemarathon, La Nocturna de Toledo and Marrakech Marathon share the same technical foundation, while each develops its own visual language connected to its city and the way runners experience the event.
Every design begins with a research process to identify the element that best expresses this connection. Portuguese tiles, the energy of the crowd, a historic emblem, canals, a traditional craft or the local landscape are translated into colours, patterns and details across the running shoe. This work has produced six distinctive editions designed to feel like their own to every runner. Over the coming weeks, runners will take to the streets in these shoes, carrying with them a part of what makes each destination instantly recognisable.
Six identities on one R-2000
- Behobia-San Sebastián: this edition features a black upper, with a transition through red, orange, green and blue to represents the range of runners, paces and emotions that come together over 20 kilometres.

The black base echoes the dark metal surface used in this traditional craft, while the gold motifs recall its fine inlays. The historic Toledo skyline along the midsole reinforces the city’s rich heritage.

Water-inspired border patterns flow across the blue upper, reinterpreting the movement and reflections of this defining feature of the city. In contrast, the gold midsole incorporates details inspired by its gondolas.

The running shoe becomes a collectable piece through floral motifs, ornamental lines and architectural strokes. Blue and white draw on the traditional palette of Portuguese tilework, while gold adds a contemporary contrast.

This latest iteration of the R-2000 has been developed to be lighter. The model retains its 10 mm drop while introducing a midsole made from two injected Light Reactive components, an ultralight and responsive Pebax that returns energy with every stride and absorbs impact.
The upper features a renewed technical mesh construction and VTS technology to support airflow. The heat-sealed Joma Sportech construction reduces friction points, while the improved road-running geometry resists abrasion and retains its shape kilometre after kilometre.
