The Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series returns to Europe for the IRONMAN® 70.3® Elsinore triathlon taking place Sunday 21 June. With an impressive start list of both male and female triathletes, over 90 professionals will be making their way to the start line, with a race set to deliver an intense battle for the podium. The IRONMAN 70.3 Elsinore triathlon is the eighth stop on the 2026 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series circuit and will offer a $50,000 professional prize purse, along with three qualifying slots per gender for the 2026 Precision Fuel & Hydration IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon in Nice, France.

Elsinore is known for its astounding beauty, historical significance in trading and iconic Kronborg Castle. This area of Denmark attracts millions of tourists each year, along with many age group athletes wanting to soak up the beauty. Over 2,000 age groupers will be racing alongside the professionals, each competing for qualifying slots to the 2026 Precision Fuel & Hydration IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon, enhancing the event size and depth of participation.

The race will be broadcast live, free for all international audiences across IRONMAN YouTube, ironman.com/proseries, and DAZN, with additional regional live broadcast and highlight shows also available, including L’Équipe Live in France, ESPN (within Disney+), SuperSport, hr-Fernsehen, RTVE, iQIYI, and Outside TV.

Wearing the number one bib in the women’s professional field is two-time and reigning IRONMAN Pro Series champion Kat Matthews (GBR), who returns to the start line following a mid-season reset after a demanding early-season block of races – and she’ll be hoping to come back with a bang after a disappointing DNF in Texas. Matthews currently sits fifth in the 2026 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series standings with two wins at the ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand and IRONMAN 70.3 Geelong triathlons under her belt.

Lotte Wilms (NLD) has had a strong start to her year, with a sixth and third place finish at IRONMAN triathlons in New Zealand and Hamburg elevating the Dutchwoman to second in the overall Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series standings. Wilms will race her first IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon on the year in Elsinore, hoping to bank a solid score to keep her in contention for the end-of-year Pro Series podium.

Katrine Christensen (DNK) will lead the Danish hopes of a win at the IRONMAN 70.3 Elsinore triathlon. Christensen will be confident of securing a good result following a podium in Hamburg and a sixth-place finish in Aix-en-Provence. Marta Sanchez (ESP) will also be confident of securing a good result in Elsinore, refreshed after a mid-season break following earlier sixth and third place results at the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside and Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship triathlons. Another athlete in contention for a podium finish will be Lena Meißner (DEU), with the German having already secured two third place finishes at European IRONMAN 70.3 triathlons this year (Valencia and Kraichgau).

Also look out for Audrey Merle (FRA), third place in Oceanside, and Natalie Van Coevorden (AUS), winner of the IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney triathlon in May.

The men’s field is highlighted by Marten Van Riel (BEL) – an athlete who has never been beaten in an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon. Van Riel will line up in Elsinore with fresh legs, having raced only once so far this year, finishing second at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship triathlon.

Behind him, the likes of Jamie Riddle (ZAF) and Kyle Smith (NZL) will be hoping to bank a positive result after disappointing starts to their seasons. Both athletes have championship pedigree, Riddle finishing seventh at last year’s Precision Fuel & Hydration IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship and Smith fourth at the event in 2024.

Denmark’s Kristian Høgenhaug will hope the roar of a home crowd can kickstart his 2026 campaign, which hasn’t started as strongly as the previous two in which the Dane performed consistently well, earning him two third place finishes in the overall IRONMAN Pro Series standings.

Additional names to keep an eye on in the IRONMAN 70.3 Elsinore men’s field are Jonas Hoffman (DEU), currently sitting 10th in the 2026 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series, Leonard Arnold (DEU), 13th at the 2025 Precision Fuel & Hydration IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon, and Simon Viain (FRA), an athlete who posted a 1:07 run in finishing fourth at the IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia triathlon.
