Principality Building Society Cardiff Half Marathon Start Line

The twentieth-anniversary celebration of the Principality Building Society Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 1 October 2023 is set to be the biggest yet, with general entries now officially sold out.

It comes following the exciting announcement that Principality Building Society will be the new headline sponsor of the event, with hundreds of runners securing one of the few remaining general entries off the back of the news.

Talking about the new partnership announcement, Julie-Ann Haines, CEO at Principality Building Society, commented: “I am thrilled we are partnering with the Cardiff Half Marathon because we believe in helping people achieve their hopes and aspirations. It is such a well-supported event that unites people from diverse backgrounds across Wales. It creates a carnival atmosphere around the city, with thousands of people running to raise funds to support charities and communities, which are the same values we have as a leading Welsh company. It will be a great occasion and we will be with the runners every step of the way of their journey.”

27,500 spaces have been sold in total and now that general entries are sold out, only those spaces reserved via official charities remain available for those wishing to take part.

To celebrate 20 years of the Cardiff Half in style and in recognition of the importance of fundraising, event organisers have revealed an exciting new suite of VIP fundraiser benefits.

These benefits are available exclusively for those dedicating their 13.1 miles to Lead Charity NSPCC, Associate Charity Partners, Alzheimer’s Society, Mind, Prostate Cancer UK, Shelter Cymru, and Founding Charity Partner, Barnardo’s.

Whether it’s being first in line for that all-important post-race massage, getting the celebrity treatment on the start line or celebrating in style with fantastic food and drink offers, they’ll ensure fundraisers have a race weekend experience they’ll never forget!

Run 4 Wales Chief Executive, Matt Newman commented: “We’re delighted to be bringing another sold-out Principality Building Society Cardiff Half Marathon to the Welsh capital this autumn, in our special 20th anniversary year. It’s going to be a fantastic celebration of all that is so special about the event and we’re expecting a carnival atmosphere!

“Although general entries have sold out, it’s still possible to get involved by securing a space via one of our official charities. We’re urging everyone still keen to take part not to be disappointed and consider running for a good cause. It really is going to be our best race yet.”
