Göteborgsvarvet, the crown jewel of the Nordic running calendar and largest half marathon in the world, is poised to dazzle once again on May 18th May. This year promises an electrifying addition: Team UK. Four of the United Kingdom’s most influential figures in the running community are gearing up to tackle the iconic city centre course, asking UK runners to add this race to their running bucket lists.

Introducing Team UK

Leading the charge is none other than Lizzie Dimond, an ASICS Frontrunner and the cover star of March’s edition of Women’s Running Magazine. With her passion and drive, Lizzie epitomizes the spirit of Göteborgsvarvet, inspiring countless runners across the UK.

Joining her is Leon Cerrone, a campaigner for men’s mental health and hailed as one of the best dressed men in running. Leon’s presence adds a style to Team UK, embodying the cool Swedish vibe that defines the Göteborgsvarvet race experience.

Not to be outdone, Andy Spalova brings her unique blend of content and charisma to the team. As a Bath University student, Andy represents the next generation of running content creators, poised to leave a mark on the Göteborgsvarvet legacy.

Rounding out the quartet is Blair Wilson, dog lover and athlete, whose advocacy for Autism awareness resonates deeply with the UK running community. Blair’s unwavering dedication to his craft is hailed daily by his followers.

With its close proximity to the UK, Göteborgsvarvet offers a seamless escape into Gothenburg and the heart of Sweden, where stunning historical landmarks combine with the unwavering crowd support from >200,000 spectators. 50+ music stations entertain runners and crowds with unique course installations creating an unforgettable race experience.

The course weaves through Gothenburg’s rich heritage. Passing two bridges with an amazing view over the archipelago and the harbour of Gothenburg. Runners will take in the city’s parade street “Avenyn”, the iconic Eriksberg’s Crane and finish the race inside the famous Slottsskogsvallen arena!
