EHM Legacy, the Community Interest Company behind the multi award-winning Ealing Half Marathon, have revealed the first ever ten Ealing Half Marathon Ambassadors for 2021/2.

The Ealing Half Marathon Ambassador Scheme was created following an outpouring of support when it was revealed that the race may not take place this year. It is set to return on Sunday 26 September but its future is still hanging in the balance unless more people sign up to take part. The popular Ealing event was cancelled in 2020 due to Coronavirus restrictions and that has left a big dent in the finances.

Rachel Job, Director, EHM Legacy commented: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the huge level of interest in our Ambassador scheme and we can’t wait for our newly appointed fantastic ambassadors to start making waves and spread the word about Ealing Half Marathon and all that we do.”

EHM Legacy is a Community Interest Company that ploughs surplus profits into local projects that support physical activity and wellbeing. Ealing Half Marathon is the flagship event and it also organises 10k events in Osterley Park and the popular monthly Ealing Mile.

Entries for the 2021 Ealing Half Marathon are now open. Refunds will be offered if the race is not able to go ahead. Runners can sign-up now at www.ealinghalfmarathon.com

Introducing the 2021/2 Ealing Half Marathon Ambassadors and why they are excited about their role:

Alison Brandwood (not in photo)
“Having run the first four Ealing Half Marathons and enthusiastically supported all of them, I’m so excited and proud to now be a part of supporting this fantastic Ealing event. It is such a well-run event which brings the whole Ealing community together to celebrate each year.”

Andrew Lawrence (second from left)
“I went to watch the first event in awe of people being able to run that far! I then ran my first Ealing Half Marathon a year later and subsequently have run and helped at all events since. I’ve also regularly participated (running or volunteering) at the Ealing Mile and 10K events too. I am now the parkrun Regional Lead Ambassador for Greater London so hopefully have lots of opportunity to help spread the word about the fantastic community event that is Ealing Half Marathon and look forward to supporting it as an Ambassador.”

“I am delighted to be part of the Ealing Half Marathon team and help promote such a great community event. It is exactly what we all need at this time – something to give us all a buzz of excitement as we see people of all ages and abilities get together (in line with the latest guidance!) for this event.”

Helen Brennan (centre)
“I was born and raised in Ealing and have run*, volunteered or been a spectator at all of the Ealing Half Marathons. I’m delighted to be an Ealing Half Marathon Ambassador and to use my marketing experience to help make the 2021 event the best yet! *just the once!”

Jags Sanghera (far right)
“I’m looking forward to being able to be further raise the profile of EHM across Southall and share the opportunities and widen its reach to new and existing runners. As someone who started from the beginning myself, I know that the #EalingFeeling is alive and kicking and open to all regardless of ability. We just need the right mindset, guidance and encouragement which I see as part of my role.”

Jaz Sandalli (third from left)
“I’m proud to be an ever-present at Ealing Half Marathon and absolutely cannot wait to share with everyone how much I love this race! The local community who come and cheer every time, the runners at every start line, the way the course allows us to pass and cross and see everyone else that’s out there make it the best road race in London IMHO.”

Matt Peck (far left)
“I’m so excited to be an Ambassador for Ealing Half Marathon. I love Ealing (as many of my non-W5 friends will tell you…) with its many green spaces, wonderful people, and vast culture. So, I can’t wait to spread the positive message of movement, to the wider community, in this role.”

Megan Swanson (not in photo)
“I love running. I’ve always loved running. From roads to trails… it is always how I have gotten to know different counties, cities and communities. And it’s how I got to know London when I first moved here. I am elated to be an ambassador for the EHM!”

Rob Bull (third from right)
“I’m an outdoor enthusiast who’s passionate about promoting the positive wellbeing impacts associated with healthy and active lifestyles. I’m incredibly excited to have the opportunity to work with Ealing Half Marathon to help inspire members of my local community to take on new personal challenges and achieve their goals.”

Tasha Thompson (not in photo)
“Congratulations to all the recently appointed Ealing Half Marathon ambassadors. I am thrilled and excited to be an ambassador as half marathon is my favourite race distance. Ealing Half Marathon is in my personal top three of best half marathons races to take part in, and I love to run and to encourage others to run too. I am looking forward to working with the Ealing Half Marathon team and other ambassadors and running the race in September too.”
