Joma has launched a new R-2000 and R-5000, two special edition running shoes developed especially for the Movistar Madrid Half Marathon.
The R-2000 and R-5000 Special Edition models were conceived as a tribute to the edition launched in 2020, the year in which the Movistar Madrid Half Marathon celebrated its 20th anniversary. That edition marked a milestone in the race’s partnership with Joma, a collaboration that has continued to grow and strengthen over the years.
This latest launch incorporates the essence of that iconic design, celebrating Joma’s journey alongside the race.
The design features clouds, to symbolise the expression “From Madrid to the sky”, a metaphor for self-improvement, effort and the feeling of going one step beyond.
R-2000: versatility, comfort and efficiency for the half marathon
The R-2000 is designed to offer maximum versatility, suitable for both daily training and competition, and adapted to different paces and distances. Its balanced performance makes it an ideal option for runners seeking performance without sacrificing comfort, whether during long training sessions or on race day.
The upper is made of lightweight, breathable technical mesh, enhanced with VTS technology, which improves ventilation and helps keep the foot cool throughout the activity. The JOMA SPORTECH thermosealed fit system ensures effective support without adding extra weight.
The midsole combines two materials to deliver a reactive and stable ride. In the rear area, FLY REACTIVE technology provides high energy return and efficient propulsion, while the forefoot features next-generation phylon to improve stability.
This setup is completed with a 10 mm drop and a wider toe box, increasing overall comfort. The DURABILITY rubber outsole delivers reliable traction and high resistance to wear, ensuring consistent performance on asphalt.
R-5000: extreme lightness and competition performance
The R-5000 is the most radical, competition-oriented model, approved by World Athletics and tested by professional athletes such as Mercy Kibor. Weighing just 247 grams, it is designed for runners targeting high paces and an explosive racing experience, without limitations caused by footwear weight.
The upper, made from ultralight Jacquard mesh, features strategic perforations to optimise ventilation, combined with VTS technology to guarantee breathability and comfort even under maximum effort. The JOMA SPORTECH thermosealed fit system provides precise support while maintaining overall lightness.
One of the key elements of the model is its CARBON PLATE, a carbon plate that maximises propulsion and improves energy transfer in every stride, enabling a faster and more efficient run while helping to reduce muscle fatigue. The midsole, with a 6 mm drop, is entirely made of FLY REACTIVE, a lightweight and highly responsive material designed for competition.
The DURABILITY rubber outsole, placed only in the areas with the greatest contact with the asphalt, ensures abrasion resistance and grip while optimising the overall weight of the shoe.
