In late 2018, Salomon mountain sports athlete Kilian Jornet embarked on a frenetic world media tour that touched down in Asia, the United States and multiple cities in Europe, with cameras following him every step of the way. Set against that tour, a new documentary titled Inside Kilian takes a look at an unusual year in the life of the Spanish trail runner, skier and mountaineer. That same year, Jornet suffered two injuries, but still managed to complete several sports projects he had planned for years, in addition to receiving the great personal news that he would soon be a father.

The behind-the-scenes film shows Jornet out of his usual environment as he travels from city to city on a nonstop world tour. The documentary, produced by Lymbus, will premiere on February 13th and be available for free on Rakuten TV and will be available in the 42 European countries where the platform provides its service. It will be part of the exclusive content offered by the VOD platform, which began with the series Matchday – Inside FC Barcelona and the documentary MessiCirque.

“Inside Kilian is a documentary unlike those we have made until now, since we go beyond the mountain to give some idea of what we do as elite athletes,” Jornet said. “It also reviews a year that was very special for me, with good and bad times.”

Fans will see another side of the endurance athlete as he juggles his responsibilities off the trail and reveals his most personal side. Kilian reflects on a 2018 marked by injuries, his search for the balance between competition and personal projects, and also the news of the arrival of his daughter.

The documentary is produced by Lymbus, whose other films include Path to Everest, which focuses on Jornet’s double ascent of the world’s tallest peak. Path to Everest is currently available on the VOD and Vimeo platforms, as well as Amazon Prime.
