London Marathon Events have announced a new partnership with Up and Running Events to deliver a brand new half marathon – The Stirling Half Marathon – in Scotland on Sunday 16 May 2027.

Thousands of participants will have the opportunity to take part in a half marathon in one of Scotland’s most historic cities, passing iconic landmarks and taking in the beauty of the Scottish countryside.

Entries for the 2027 Stirling Half Marathon will be open later this year. People can register their interest in taking on the Stirling Half Marathon website.

Inspiring activity in Scotland

The Stirling Half Marathon is the latest step in LME’s commitment to growing mass participation events across Scotland.

The partnership between LME and Up and Running, a Scottish events organiser, follows LME’s 2024 acquisition of Caledonian Concepts and the Loch Ness Marathon Ltd, organisers of the Loch Ness Marathon, Etape Loch Ness, Inverness Half Marathon and other events in Inverness and the Loch Ness area.

Surplus LME profits are passed to its parent charity, the London Marathon Foundation (the Foundation) to fund projects that inspire and scale up activity, especially in the areas where it organises events. More than £120 million has been awarded to projects and organisations across the UK since 1981.

The Foundation announced a brand new Get Active Scotland fund in September 2025 – a collaborative two-year funding partnership between national and local partners including sportscotland, High Life Highland, and Glasgow Life. The Foundation contributed £500,000 to the £1.1 million grant scheme to help inspire activity in the Highlands and Glasgow.

Partnering with Up and Running Events

Up and Running Events brings extensive experience of delivering mass participation events across Scotland, including the two-day Glasgow Running Festival and the recently announced Hampden Running Festival at Scotland’s national stadium. This complements LME’s track record of delivering and supporting major events across the UK and internationally, including the world’s most popular marathon, the TCS London Marathon.

Alongside delivering a world-class event experience, organisers will work with local partners and community groups to ensure the event creates lasting benefits to the local community beyond event day.

Hugh Brasher, CEO of London Marathon Events, said: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Up and Running Events for the inaugural Stirling Half Marathon in 2027. At the heart of both organisations is a shared commitment to inspiring people of all ages and abilities to lead active lives while engaging with the communities that host our events. Stirling, with its beautiful landscapes and rich heritage, is the perfect backdrop for this exciting new event. We look forward to collaborating with Up and Running Events and local partners to deliver an unforgettable event that truly celebrates the spirit of Stirling.”

Laurence Prior, Co-Founder/Brand Director of Up and Running Events, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be working alongside London Marathon Events, a world-leading events company and the team behind the TCS London Marathon, to bring the Stirling Half Marathon to life.

“Stirling is the perfect setting for an event of this scale. It’s a city with incredible history, iconic landmarks and a strong sense of community, and we have a real opportunity to showcase the city to thousands of runners from across Scotland, the UK and beyond.

“This partnership brings together London Marathon Events’ world-leading experience in delivering major mass participation events with our knowledge, insight and highly engaged running community across Scotland. Together, our ambition is to establish the Stirling Half Marathon as one of the biggest races on the Scottish running calendar and create an event that runners look forward to returning to year after year.”
