On Saturday night, London became the epicentre of underground running culture as THE MAZE ZE:RO HO:UR, Saucony’s high-intensity race experience, brought together run clubs from across Europe for an unforgettable night of competition, community and collective energy.
Set within an industrial warehouse space in Peckham, THE MAZE ZE:RO HO:UR challenged crews to perform under pressure as race rules and course details were revealed only moments before the start. Built on unpredictability, the format stripped racing back to instinct and adaptability, pushing athletes to rely on teamwork, decision-making and resilience as much as speed.
The race followed a live, time-trial format designed to test both endurance and teamwork. Each crew started with four runners, split into two pairs, rotating on track across a series of short, high-intensity running periods. As the race progressed, teams were gradually eliminated, with only the top crews advancing to a final stage. The winning team was determined by the greatest total distance covered over the 60-minute race.
Participating run crews included: Peckham Pacers, The Weekend Project, BRKEDOFF, Grove Lane (London), Embankment Run Club (Nottingham), MTF (Milan), COLLISION (Paris), BEAUBIEN (Toulouse), RUN-N-RAVE and FPC (Berlin), Mediocre Athletics Club (Oslo), and Aero Boys Club (Gothenburg).
Race results
Winning Crew: MTF (Milan) – 38.1km covered
Second Place: Peckham Pacers (London) – 36.0km covered
Third Place: Beaubien (Toulouse) – 35.4km covered
Following the success of THE MAZE’s debut in Paris last year, the London edition marked the next evolution of the series, reinforcing Saucony’s belief that community sits at the heart of modern running culture.
Cameron Black, VP EMEA at Saucony, said: “THE MAZE ZE:RO HO:UR is about far more than racing. It’s a celebration of the communities that are shaping modern running culture – crews who bring creativity and energy to the sport in cities across Europe. At Saucony, community has always been central to who we are, and events like this allow us to create exciting spaces where runners can connect, compete and run as one.”
Throughout the night, crews put Saucony’s new Endorphin Azura to the test. Lightweight, responsive and plate-free, the Azura is designed for runners who want to feel fast every day. Powered by Saucony’s PWRRUN PB super foam and SPEEDROLL™ technology, the shoe delivered smooth transitions, energy return and effortless momentum across the fast, demanding course.
