Threshold Sports, one of the UK’s leading challenge events agencies, has announced Dulux as the new title sponsor for their award-winning Ultra Marathon, Race to the King.

Interest in Ultra marathon events was booming pre-pandemic with a report in 2020 showing participation growth of 345% in ten years. This desire to push beyond a marathon distance is showing no sign of slowing down, and more people than ever are looking to test themselves in breath-taking open landscapes as opposed to urban environments. It is these trends that have seen Threshold’s Trail Events become a key fixture in the UK running calendar regularly scooping the best Endurance Event at the UK Running Awards.

Dulux Race to the King is designed specifically to be the most accessible of Threshold’s Ultra distance events. Taking in a route through the beautiful South Downs and stunning Chichester Harbour along the Sussex coast, over 1,500 participants are set to tackle a newly designed figure of 8 course that starts and finishes at the historic Goodwood Racecourse.

The new format makes travel logistics easier for participants and supporters alike. With extended cut off times, even the steadiest of walkers, joggers and runners will have the chance to tick off the iconic 50km or 100km challenge.

Dulux have been working with Threshold Sports since 2014 using the power of colour to help transform lives by uplifting communities and making living spaces more fun as Nick Tuppen, CEO Threshold Sports explains: “Dulux has been a fantastic partner of our events since their debut riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats as part of Ride Across Britain. Since then, their belief in the power of colour and their irrepressible enthusiasm has transformed the experiences of thousands of runners, walkers and riders.”

For the past 5 years Dulux has sponsored the iconic cycling challenge, London Revolution and this new partnership on Race to the King continues their commitment to bring together their customers, colleagues and communities in a brilliant memorable event surrounded by colour.

John Kourtoulos, Dulux Sales Director UK and Ireland, said: “We have a rich history of working with Threshold to create phenomenal experiences that combine people, businesses, and our customers. These incredible events have now become a big part of our CSR strategy, forming key points in our yearly calendar of events. Having enjoyed 5 brilliant years as partner for the London Revolution we are excited to begin a new chapter and broaden the experience we create.

“Dulux Race to the King promises to be a truly unique Ultra Marathon experience with some unforgettable Dulux magic coming to the central event camp at Goodwood. Nick continues “The Dulux Race to the King is the perfect way to extend our relationship and we are set to redefine what people can expect from endurance events. Whether taking on the shorter distances or the mighty 100km weekend challenge, people will never have seen the South Downs this colourful! And that’s not even mentioning the finish line welcome you can expect from our resident King and the Dulux dog!”
