In exactly ten weeks, on August 25, the team presentation of the Deutschland Tour will take place on the Stralsund harbor island. Among the squads fighting to win the Deutschland Tour are the two German WorldTeams Bora – Hansgrohe and Team DSM. Teams with German riders, such as Alpecin – Fenix, Bahrain – Victorious and Israel Start-Up Nation, as well as the top international teams are expected.

22 teams, each with six riders, will take part in the Deutschland Tour from August 26 to 29. The race runs over four stages from the Hanseatic city of Stralsund to Nuremberg. 727 kilometers are covered on the route from the Baltic Sea to Franconia. After a flat section in the north of Germany, the race’s central part in Thuringia becomes hillier. The final stage in Bavaria will be a true classic – only 160 kilometers long but peppered with 13 steep climbs.

The Deutschland Tour has established itself in the racing calendar of the world’s best teams. 13 teams from this year’s Tour de France will also compete in the Deutschland Tour. Most recently, Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas and stage winners such as Julian Alaphilippe left their mark in Germany. With its concept of a classic tour and the race scheduled at the end of August, it is very attractive for sprinters and aggressive stage hunters. Each of the four stages is designed like a classic, the fans will be able to cheer changing winners and the overall ranking remains open until the final day.

Who’ll be the successor to Jasper Stuyven? The winner of Milan-Sanremo secured the red jersey of the overall winner in 2019 with a lead of only 3 seconds. The stage winners of the last editions include German top riders such as Maximilian Schachmann, Nils Politt and Pascal Ackermann, as well as international stars such as the winner of the Tour of Flanders Kasper Asgreen and the multiple winner of Eschborn-Frankfurt Alexander Kristoff.

In addition to the UCI WorldTeams and the UCI ProTeams, the next generation of German cyclists will participate in the Deutschland Tour. Despite the high demand from international elite teams, a number of entries is guaranteed for German continental teams. The sustainable promotion of German cycling is a cornerstone of the Deutschland Tour. After the national championships, which will take place in Stuttgart on the upcoming weekend, the wildcards for the German continental teams will be announced.
