Beijing joins the World Cup circuit

World Triathlon welcomes Beijing, China, as a new host city on the 2026 World Cup calendar. The Beijing World Triathlon Cup will take place on 17 October 2026 over the standard distance, adding an exciting new stop to the international circuit in Asia.

Beijing last hosted a top-tier World Triathlon event in 2011, when the city staged the prestigious WTCS Grand Final — one of the most memorable editions of the season-ending championship. But the city’s relationship with the sport runs even deeper. Well before that, Beijing captured the imagination of the global triathlon community when it hosted the triathlon events at the 2008 Olympic Games. In the years before the Games, Beijing also welcomed numerous World Cups and Continental Cup events, cementing its reputation as one of Asia’s premier venues for the sport.

The return of World Triathlon racing to Beijing in 2026 is therefore a milestone moment — a reunion with a city that holds a special place in the history of the sport. Adding Beijing to the international circuit also strengthens the Asian leg of the World Cup calendar and provides athletes with a high-profile competition during the heart of the Olympic qualification period.

Hong Kong expands programme with Mixed Relay Cup

The Hong Kong World Triathlon Cup, scheduled for 7–8 November 2026, will expand its programme with the addition of a Mixed Relay Cup event. The full programme for the Hong Kong event will be as follows:

Saturday, 7 November — Elite Women’s and Elite Men’s Sprint races

Sunday, 8 November — Mixed Relay Cup

The addition of the Mixed Relay further elevates Hong Kong’s event as one of the highlights of the late-season calendar.

World Triathlon would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Chinese Triathlon Association and the Hong Kong Triathlon Federation for their continued commitment to the sport and for making these events possible. Their support is instrumental in growing triathlon across the region and providing world-class competitive opportunities for athletes globally.

World Triathlon is also working closely with the Abu Dhabi World Triathlon Series Local Organising Committee to explore options to reschedule the WTCS Abu Dhabi events, which were postponed due to the current situation in the Middle East. Further information will be communicated as soon as it becomes available.
